But there is one requirement nevertheless: your willingness to learn how to arrive at a mutual understanding between you and your horse in order to achieve better results.
In practice, this means that the rider, guided by the instructor, does the prescribed exercises and gymnastics with his or her horse, without any pressure or hurry. These exercises are built up progressively, adapted to the horse's physical and mental development and with respect for its morale.
Pedro de Almeida always gears the programme to the individual horse and its rider and closely monitors the learning process. The idea is for the horse to be allowed to learn what to do and how, without using coercion. If this is done properly, progress will follow naturally.
The lessons are tailor-made to suit the wishes and the capacities of the rider and horse. Accordingly, the number of lessons is decided on in consultation with the rider, taking availability and budget considerations into account.
